Clos Lapeyre vin de jurançon sec • Le Mantoulan de LAPEYRE

JURANÇON DRY WINE

Mantoulan is the name of a place 500 meters east of the Clos Lapeyre.

It’s an old renowned terroir that we replanted in high density with traditional grape varieties of the Jurançon appellation issued from mass selection : the Petit Manseng, the Courbu and the Camaralet. Courbu and Camaralet are earlier grape varieties which produce grapes with less sugar content, so they temper the very high content of Petit Manseng.

Some vintages like 2014 and 2020, were unable to produce the Cuvée Mantoulan as the level of sugar in the Petit Manseng was too high too quickly. The plot represents 1.6 hectares for 4000 to 6000 bottles per year.

THE TASTING

We find in this wine the imprint of Petit Manseng by the compact volume which serves as a base for a powerful and firm structure. Still fermenting, on notes of exotic fruit, very well balanced. It is distinguished by its volume and measured acidity. It will be a great vintage.

WINE PAIRING

As an aperitif, with river and sea fish, white meats, cooked dishes such as squid risotto with chorizo or roast chicken with lemon.
